Miss Fido Manners Petiquette Classes
for You and Your Dog
INTRODUCTION
According to the American Pet Manufacturers Association, there are 44.8 million households
with dogs. Nine in ten pet owners surveyed say they consider their pet a member of the
family. 27 percent of these dog owners talk baby-talk to their four-legged loves ones.
As a result, it is not hard to believe that many dogs are spoiled rotten by people whom think
of their animals as kids. And, nothing is too good for these dogs! These four-legged companions
share many of the same indulgences (organic foods, alternative medicine, luxury bedding and spa
services) as their masters and mistresses. But, even with all these "treats" for better health
and wellness, these animals don't always properly behave and their owners can't understand why.
And yes, even after sessions with a dog trainer, some of these doggies continue to act like the
over-indulged children they are.
These pet parents need, The Miss Fido Manners Petiquette Classes for You and Your Dog, the first
traveling, finishing school for dogs and their owners that will answer all their concerns about
their pet's manners. Dog etiquette focuses on both ends of the leash. The owner and pet have
to work together to achieve good manners.
Based on the book, Miss Fido Manners Complete Book of Pet Etiquette: The Definitive Guide to
Manners for Pets and Their People, dog owners will get the scoop on proper doggie etiquette
in a wide-range of settings at home, in the neighborhood, on the street, at the dog run,
with children, in restaurants and retail establishments as well as at the office. Class
participants will also do some role-playing, so that those attending can hone their skills
and turn their dog into a perfect pet.
ABOUT THE CLASS
Charlotte Reed, an animal behavior counselor for more than 13 years, will teach
students about the "do's" and "don'ts" of dog and dog owner etiquette. Reed will
explain to students how to help their dogs leave behind the life of bad behavior and
enter one of good canine manners. Hip and knowledgeable, Reed will provide information
on everything dog owners need to know about petiquette in a fun, interesting way.
THE COURSE
Reed will start with a review of basic dog training skills such as sit, walking on a leash,
quiet and no jumping, followed by a discussion of dog manners. Students will practice their
pet etiquette skills during real life exercises.
Some of the topics covered include:
- A healthy pet is a well-behaved pet
- Why good manners begin at home
